Voters believe President Buhari should have sacked non performing Ministers earlier

Monday, September 06, 2021

Voters between age 18 and 79 believe President Buhari should have sacked non performing Ministers earlier. Voters are also more likely to think more dead wood minister ought to have been shown the way out of the cabinet to reinvigorate the overall progress of the administration.

According to Femi Adesina, the President said the changes were sequel to the “tradition of subjecting our projects and programs implementation to independent and critical self-review” through sector reporting during Cabinet meetings and at retreats.

He added that “these significant review steps have helped to identify and strengthen weak areas, close gaps, build cohesion and synergy in governance, manage the economy and improve the delivery of public good to Nigerians”.

The latest Gates Polls national telephone and online survey finds that 63% of Nigerian Voters believe President Buhari was late in sacking non performing Ministers in his administration. Seventeen percent (17%) agree that it was just about the right time and 19% say they’re not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here 👇)

More voters of APC (40%) and PDP (34%) believe the President will still show more ministers the exit before the end of his administration while OTHER PARTIES (21%) or NO PARTY (24%). Fifty-one percent (51%) of APC members said the Buhari led administration is successful as against 7% of PDP members. Among Nigerians who say they don’t belong to any political party, 38% think the Buhari led administration is successful.
